As a minority, women, and veteran owned businesses, we dedicated time, dollars and resources, focusing on companies that express appreciation and value partnerships with our firms. Hoping our life’s work will find a listening ear, that believes in diversity, and embraces the valuable partnerships they bring. But we spend hours in front of our computers, filling out endless gatekeeper forms (meant to exclude), buried in a sea of paperwork and empty platitudes.  

Arise the new gatekeeper, directors of diversity and the departments of exclusion (inclusion) AKA the CABAL… Not to be mistaken by Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, but a cabal is a small group of people united in some close design, usually to promote their private views of or interests in an ideology, state, or other community, often by intrigue and usually unbeknownst to those outside their group.

This cabal has been successful in maintaining the status quo, avoiding change at all cost, proving a thesis/theory, dedicated to hollow promises of change. This cabal is far more interested in seeking title and position more than truly focusing on diversity. The measurement of diversity isn’t if you have a diversity department, but contracts are given, and dollars spent with professional vendors.
